Division of select soccer.

The team spent months preparing, raising money and collecting equipment to bring to the girls in Ghana.

In December 2007 they spent 2 weeks in Ghana. They practiced, played and socialized with 2 girls teams in Takoradi and another team in Winnabe. They delivered uniforms, cleats, balls and bags to these players as well as uniforms and training equipment for the young women's and men's teams at Hasacaas Academy.

The cultural experiences and connections made between the US players and Ghananian players was wonderful gift for both groups.

MAVERICKS 92-93 - Under 17 girls

In 2010 the Mavericks 92-93 girls soccer team wil also travel to Ghana with their coach Robert Sackey. They bring equipment to girls in Ghana to help them in their soccer pursuits and to promote the playing of soccer by girls.

The team is currently preparing for their trip. They are holding events and fundraisers and gathering equipment to bring to the players in Ghana.

Mavericks 94-95 Girls team info from previous years:

From 2007:
The Mavericks 94-95 U13 girls are a select soccer team in the Alameda Contra Costa Youth Soccer League (ACCYSL) which serves the kids of Oakland, Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo, California.

The team advanced in all tournaments they entered, winning both the Stockton Fall Classic Tournament and the Chico Sprys Tournament and placed third at the Castro Valley Shootout. In the Placer Foothill Cup in October 2006 they gave up only one goal, losing the championship game 1-0 to FC Crush, a team from Seattle Washington.

In December 2007 this girls team will be traveling to Ghana in West Africa to help launch one of the first organized soccer teams for 12 year old girls in Ghana and to promote league play for the girls teams.

With their Ghanaian born coach Robert Sackey the Mavericks will be working to empower girls to have the same opportunities as the boys in Ghana, to play soccer and be recognized as developing athletes. They will also be contributing much needed soccer equipment and supplies to the kids of Ghana.

The U12 Girls Mavericks 94-95 placed 1st in their Golden State Soccer League flight for Fall 2006.

The Mavericks U17 girls are a select soccer team in the San Francisco bay area. They currently placed 1st in their Golden State Soccer League ( GSSL ) division flight. In may of this year the won the San Francisco Cup division 1 tournament.

In the winter months the girls will play on their individualHigh School teams in Berkeley, Oakland, Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond California.
